Click on photos for larger views. Photos of more carved wood art paintings I am working on. I carve highlights into the wood to give the painting a different look and feel to the art. These two paintings still have a ways to go before they are finished. I paint, carve, paint, carve, adding more paint and carving out bits of lines and other details as I work on the painting.
A work in progress. "Onion Girl Rides on her Red Pigeon". Acrylic paints on wood. I carved highlights into the wood to give the painting a bit more character and a little depth. In the red tail photo above, you can see the black lines are also carved into the wood. (Click on the photo for a larger photo.) The painting is not quite finished; I have some more painting to do and add some coats of varnish.
This one is on the easel drying (and upside-down). I have just sketched in the different parts and putting on first wash. The size is 120 x 120 cm / 47.2 x 47.2 inches.
